Inexpensive Paper Craft: Fortune Cookies

Fortune cookies are extremely versatile. Aside from enjoying the edible variety, you can create origami fortune cookies from paper to serve as impressive party favors or gifts. Fill them with personalized greetings, blessings, fortunes or jokes for a creative way to express feelings.

Inexpensive Paper Crafts

Okay, summer is winding down....this means FABULOUS discounts on paper products.Perfect time to set the kids up for some paper crafts, ( or plan some art projects for your classroom)

Remember making pinwheels? With only scissors, a sheet of paper, straw, ballpoint pen casing and a pin you can teach your kids to make these fun toys. Poke them in the garden, or fix them on bikes and watch them spin in the wind.

- Cut the square from each of the corners toward the center.
- Leave a 1-inch space in the center.
- Poke a hole in the center of the square with the pin.
- Bend every other corner to the center. Hold in place with the pin.

- Place a small portion of the ballpoint pen casing over the pin so the pinwheel will spin easily.
-Push the pin through the top of a straw. Add a small piece of heavy cardboard or cork for safety. Alternately, press the pin into a small dowel.

Umbrella Art

Praying for rain ....it's a hot and muggy night here in Cleveland, Ohio, we could really use a nice summer shower.

A few things always seem to bring the rain....
* washing and waxing my car
*giving the dog a good bath
*and to really summon the rain, how about an outside art project that needs 24 hours to dry. That oughta do it!

Let's make it a omen and paint umbrellas. Start with solid color nylon umbrellas as the blank canvas and you can make fun works of art.

Play in a Bubble!

What child ( or adult) doesn't love bubbles? Playing with bubbles is inexpensive and makes a for a fun outdoor activity on a sunny day. Set the kids up with bubbles, and then have them wash their bikes or your car!

Use giant bubbles as a birthday party activity...or during a family reunion or neighborhood event.

Put bubble solution in a small kiddie pool. Set a step stool in the center for a child to stand on. Then place a hula hoop over the child. Dip the hoop into the bubble solution and slowly lift the hoop over their head. Kids can use small bubble wands while inside the bubble to fill the giant bubble with smaller bubbles.

4th of July- Patriotic Bald Eagle Craft Ideas

Are you looking for something different for your kids to wear this 4th of July?
This easy craft project is created from hand prints so even toddlers can do this with help. Bald Eagle prints can be placed directly on a T-shirt or use the same idea to make a patriotic apron or simple picture on paper.

Bald Eagle Snacks


Make these sweet bald eagle snacks by arranging the following;
* 1/4 cup of white chocolate chips
* 6 large marshmallows
* Finely shredded coconut
* Chocolate sandwich cookie
* 6 Cashews
* Black decorators' gel
Melt 1/4 cup of white chocolate chips according to the package directions.
For each bird, drop a large marshmallow into the melted chocolate, using a spatula to coat it well.
Remove the marshmallow from the chocolate and roll it in finely shredded coconut, leaving one end uncovered.
Immediately set the marshmallow, coconut free end down, atop a chocolate sandwich cookie.
Let the chocolate set a bit, then use a toothpick to make a hole in the side of the marshmallow and insert a cashew for a beak.
Add eyes with the black decorators' gel.

Make Garden Stepping Stones

Make concrete stepping stones with your kids this summer. Messy materials that are not normally used in a typical art class are instantly exciting with most kids.
Concrete stepping stones are also a great project that can be done outside during Vacation Bible School with a group of children, granted you have helpers. You will need concrete, heavy black garbage bags or mixing buckets, garden trowels, plastic gloves, water, molds and decorative items. Since the concrete needs time to dry thoroughly it should be done toward the beginning of a one-week VBS.

Abby Caddaby Party Details...

Paint T-shirts
It wasn't long though before Abby's friends were absorbed in T-shirt designing at the dining room table. Puffy paints easily coax the inner child out from under any cool exterior. While the shirts were drying, Abby handed out instructions for their next activity: A treasure hunt. Not just any treasure hunt, though -- the girls were being sent on a digital photo safari. Since teenage girls rarely go anywhere without their cameras, Abby did not need to add any instructions to her invitations. Her friends were ready to play.

Abby Caddaby Party for Teens!

My daughter, Abby, is known for her amazing party planning skills. But even with her strong reputation, her friends were more than a little wary when they arrived to find that Abby had transformed the dining room into a magical Abby Cadabby playroom, complete with Sesame Street table cloth and paper products everywhere.

A mix CD of Sesame Street tunes was playing and Abby was dressed to the nines in a beautiful plastic crown and fairy wings with a pile of sparkly beads around her neck
