This Week's Theme: China

My daughter has a fascination for all things Chinese. Firstly because we live there and secondly, because facets of the colourful culture appeal to her curious nature. Therefore it is no surprise that she selected China to base our activities upon this week.

Lanterns are already a popular craft activity in our house as is the children's television show Kai-Lan, and both will of course be featuring in our weekly activities. Nick Jnr has come to our aid in particular combining both lanterns and Kai-Lan in this fun online paper lantern activity as well as a number of other online games for children to play.


This week we are going to attempt this pretty chinese fan as well as a little home made kite. And provided the weather holds up, we are going to do some kite flying of our own. And if not then we can stay indoors and try some chinese themed jigsaw puzzles.


This handprint dragon looks like a great activity as well as this fun chopstick frame.

And of course we can't forget the chinese panda. First School has some very simple panda based colouring and craft activities suitable for ages 2-6. We also discovered some adorable lacing cards featuring a panda and an ox - particularly apt this year!

For more geographical based activities, we found a dot to dot activity as well as a Chinese flag collage activity.
